Mix Engineer / Founder of Mountainroad DSP, Serge Courtois - Pensado's Place #534

In 2020, our guest founded Mountainroad DSP and in November 2021 he released his first plugin, AlpHorn. Please welcome to The Place, Serge Courtois!


Originally from Luxembourg, Serge attended Berklee College of Music from 2007-2011 as a “Music Production and Engineering” as well as “Drum-set Performance” major. He graduated summa cum laude and found his way to Los Angeles where he worked as a full time recording engineer at Igloomusic in Burbank. At Igloomusic he was involved in recording music for TV Shows (Californication, Revenge, Last Resort), as well as movies (Guardians of the Galaxy, Robocop) for one of which he also won a grammy (Birdman). His last year at Igloomusic, he was in charge of the voiceover department, recording Voiceover for clients such as Disney, Lucasfilm, Marvel, as well as computer gaming companies such as Bungie, Valve, Insomniac Games, Blizzard and many more. After leaving Igloomusic, he started his career as a self-employed full-time mixer. Since 2015, Serge has been working with Lucas Keller from Milk&Honey on building his mixing career.

In 2016, Serge moved from LA to Zurich. And in 2021, he moved back home to the Luxembourg/Germany region with his wife and baby.

Serge has mixed major pop acts such as Nick Jonas, Alessia Cara, Olivia O’Brien, Fletcher, Twenty One Pilots, Alec Benjamin, Backstreet Boys, Aloe  Blacc, Jason Derulo, Oliver Heldens, Riton, Tiesto, LANY, Madison Beer, Sasha Sloan, Avril Lavigne, Noah Kahan, Liam Payne, Carly Rae Jepsen, Bebe Rexha, and more.  

Serge had the longest running pop #1 in Australian history mixing Justice Crew’s smash “Que Sera.” Serge is an unprecedented mixer with an extraordinary ear for mixing pop music, he has had multi-platinum success with a variety of producers. Serge is a goto for many of Milk & Honey’s A-list producers.
